Alyssa Thompson and Gisele Thompson have agreed contract extensions at Angel City through to 2028.

Forward Alyssa has signed a four-year extension and right-back Gisele a two-year extension.

The USWNT’s Alyssa, 20, was the first overall pick in the 2023 NWSL draft, becoming the youngest player to be drafted in the league’s history and the first to be drafted from high school. She has provided nine goals and nine assists in 53 appearances across her first two seasons at Angel City.

“I wanted to re-sign because I love LA so much and the community around me is amazing,” she said. “Being able to play in my hometown playing in front of my friends and family is something that I never take for granted. Also, being able to play with Gisele as a professional is a dream come true and I am so happy to continue that for years to come.”

Gisele, 19, joined her sister at Angel City in 2024. She has made 16 appearances for the club since her NWSL debut against Bay FC in March.

“I’m so happy to have the opportunity to continue to grow with this team,” Gisele said. “We have such amazing players and I think our chemistry is so solid that I know we can win a championship, which is the ultimate goal. Playing in front of my friends, family, and playing with Alyssa has been so great that I look forward to continuing that here.”

The Thompson sisters secured their own name, image and likeness deal with Nike as high schoolers in 2022.

Alyssa made her USWNT debut in October 2022 and has made 13 senior international appearances. She was included in the U.S. squad for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Gisele has been capped up to Under-20 level and was part of the side that finished third at the 2024 Under-20 World Cup.

Angel finished 12th in the NWSL in 2024. Former Washington Spirit and Portland Thorns head coach Mark Parsons joined as the club’s new sporting director ahead of the 2025 season.

The club parted ways with head coach Becki Tweed in December and remain without a permanent replacement, with Eleri Earnshaw in interim charge.

“Alyssa and Gisele are very important for our club’s future, but also for the success of our league,” said Parsons. “We are thrilled that they are staying home in LA for four more years. Alyssa and Gisele both have world class potential for both club and country and we look forward to continuing to support their growth and development.”
