Success doesn’t always come easy, but with determination and adaptability, it’s achievable.
That was the key message coming out of the years, The One Conference.
The conference brought together top-performing agents from leading franchise groups, boutique agencies, and family-run businesses, setting a new benchmark for professionalism, empathy, and innovation in the real estate industry.
Ray White AKG founder Avi Khan, who initiated The One Conference as a passion project, said the event represents more than just sales success, it acknowledges every role that contributes to the industry’s growth.
“Today’s event is more than a celebration of sales agents, it honours every role that contributes to the success of our industry,” Mr Khan said.
“From the administrators who are the backbone of operations to property managers and aspiring associates eager to shape their futures, this conference recognises and empowers all contributors.”
Reflecting on the journey since the conference’s inception, Mr Khan highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration.
“In 2022, I started conversations with like-minded principals about the increasingly combative nature of the real estate industry,” he said.
“Those discussions resonated deeply, and together, we envisioned a new direction, one built on mutual respect and shared success.”
Natalie Hortz, National Chairperson of the Leading Ladies of Real Estate, highlighted the connection between her organisation and The One Conference.
“Leading Ladies of Real Estate has always been about empowering women to chase their highest potential, and The One Conference provides that exact platform for transformation,” Ms Hortz said.
During the day, Ray White NSW | ACT’s Bridgette Collis joined leading agents Sonya Treloar and Alexandra Porter to share their experiences as women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Their message focused on mentorship and the importance of supporting the next generation of female agents.
Keynote speaker Josh Phegan delivered a powerful session, encouraging attendees to shift their mindset for 2025.
“When you expect life to be fundamentally difficult and hard, when it turns up, you’re not surprised,” Mr Phegan said.
“The foundational idea is simple: if you want it, you will do it.
“You have a chance to rewrite your story. Great work requires you to be stubborn about goals but flexible about your approaches.”
Ray White Diamantidis Group owner Peter Diamantidis, a self-made success story, inspired attendees with his journey from property management to leading a high-volume, auction-focused business.
“Dominate and participate, that’s my mantra. I want you to stand out. Plan for holidays, build a strong team, and be consistent,” Mr Diamantidis said.
The Courier Mail real estate editor Liz Tilley urged agents to embrace digital media in an AI-driven world.
“You need to be doing podcasts, weekly newsletters, and be active on social media to leverage your brand,” Ms Tilley said.
“Find three things you know well and specialise in them.
“Embrace cutting-edge technology—it’s essential in this industry.”
Bec Turner from Ray White AKG, who has signed over 1,600 new managements since 2019, reinforced the importance of relationships in real estate.
“This is a relationship game,” Ms Turner said.
“If you invest time and keep in touch, the business will come to you.”
Apollo Auctions Director Justin Nickerson, a three-time Australasian Auctioneer of the Year, interviewed local agent Tony O’Doherty about the hallmarks of a great agent.
“Consistency is the key,” Mr O’Doherty said.
“Every great agent I know builds their business on consistent actions and results.
“Turn up, show up, and hold yourself accountable.”
Harcourts Head of Property Management Karmen Costigan spoke about the role of AI in property management.
“AI can solve complex issues for us, but it can also hallucinate,” Mr Costigan said.
Always proofread, use industry-specific technology, and don’t ignore it—it’s here to stay.”
Ray White Rockhampton’s Emily Richardson, named Queensland’s Business Development Manager of the Year, shared insights on building a successful property management business.
“Speed is currency,” Ms Richardson said.
“The difference between a slow BDM and a fast BDM is massive.
“People want things done now—if you haven’t done it fast enough, your competition has.”
Ray White Group Managing Director Dan White praised the AKG team for organising an outstanding event.
