Milan have completed the loan signing of Kyle Walker from Manchester City.

The deal includes an option for the Serie A club to make the move permanent.

The Athletic reported on Thursday Walker, 34, was flying to Milan to complete his loan move.

The deal means the England international fills Milan’s final non-EU player slot, effectively ending the chance of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford joining the side.

“Manchester City… where do I start?” Walker wrote on Instagram. “Signing for this incredible club in 2017 was a dream come true. Seven years later, winning 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the famous treble is something I could only have dreamt as a child.

“To play alongside so many top players has pushed me to be the best version of myself, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity I’ve had at the Etihad.

“A huge thank you to so many people, the coaching staff, the kit men and all the backroom staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. You make every day enjoyable and provide the platform for us to perform at our best.

“To Pep Guardiola, thank you for believing in me and working so hard to bring me here in 2017. Together, we’ve celebrated 17 trophies, and your guidance has helped shape me into the player I am today. I’ll be forever grateful.”

Walker has 18 months remaining on his City contract but City manager Pep Guardiola said on January 11 that the 34-year-old had requested permission to leave the club after eight seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

“Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at the end of his career,” Guardiola said after City’s 8-0 FA Cup win over Salford City.

Walker joined City from Tottenham Hotspur for £50million (now $61.6m) in 2017 and has since won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League.

He came close to a move to Bayern Munich in 2023 and attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia last summer.

Walker will wear the No 32 shirt at Milan.

Milan are eighth in Serie A and on course to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, sitting sixth in the league phase.

City have already had a busy January window, with defender Abdukodir Khusanov signing from Lens for €40m plus bonuses on Monday, teenage centre-back Vitor Reis arriving for €35m the following day and forward Omar Marmoush joining from Eintracht Frankfurt for €70m on Thursday.
