Things may not be as rosy behind the scenes as Kamala Harris tried to project while watching President Donald Trump be sworn in on Monday. Sitting next to her husband, the former vice president put on a good face, but according to a new report, Doug Emhoff is now drawing ire.

As RedState reported, Emhoff was at the center of multiple scandals during the ill-fated Harris campaign. Those include him committing adultery and getting his family’s nanny pregnant as well as heavily corroborated allegation that he slapped an ex-girlfriend in public while drunk. Notably, Harris refused to address either situation, and Emhoff himself never denied either of them, instead relying on the press to obfuscate for him.

According to The Daily Mail, which broke both of the stories mentioned above, Harris and those around her are blaming Emhoff for throwing a wrench into their master plan.

But now that President Donald Trump has been sworn into office, for sore loser Harris, it is now all about the blame game, and her target has flipped to her ‘dead weight’ husband.

And as she weighs her political future – maybe a 2026 run for Governor of California or another try for the nation’s top job two years later – she has to consider whether Emhoff is an asset or a liability.

One source exclusively told DailyMail.com: ‘There’s plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned and Doug has his share.

‘Doug did Kamala no favors during the election – frankly, he looked like a hypocritical a** after the bombshells that he had got his child’s nanny pregnant while married to his first wife and assaulted his ex-girlfriend on the heels of his ‘I am woman’ crusade.’

For clarity, Emhoff did not “look” like a hypocrite when the aforementioned stories came to light. He was and remains a hypocrite. This was a guy who did a media tour projecting himself as a great defender of women, yet his past was one full of predatory behavior that he and the campaign refused to address. It’s only natural that Harris would place some blame on him for blowing up her “brat summer” and becoming a drag on the ticket.

Also mentioned in the report is that Emhoff has taken a job with a major law firm in New York City, leading to further speculation. Following her ouster from Washington, Harris has returned to live in Los Angeles. Still, she’s pledging to soldier on, telling her now-former communications director that she’s “not going to go away quietly.”

At her desk signing on January 16, she told her communications chief ‘You know me well enough to know that I’m not going to go away quietly’

Emhoff famously stepped away from his own prominent career as an attorney in California to fully support Harris’ political ambitions in 2020 – becoming hell-bent on perfecting his image as a ‘wife guy’.

But behind the carefully curated social media posts and campaign photos, even the strongest relationships face challenges.

The source said: ‘I see the signs that all is not hunky dory in the Harris household.

The problem with that is that Emhoff isn’t going away either. The scandals that hampered her political ambitions in 2024 will exist in 2028 (the article claims she is not leaning toward running for California governor in 2026). At this point, it borders on delusion for Harris to believe she has a path to victory if she runs for president again. We aren’t talking about someone like Trump, who had previously won the presidency. We are talking about someone who crashed and burned in the only primary she ever ran in and then face-planted even after being given a coronation and a billion dollars to spend.

Which brings me to the question of how impactful Emhoff’s scandals were because I’m not convinced they were decisive at all. No doubt, they did damage to Harris’ campaign theme of “I am woman, hear me roar,” but had she offered anything substantive to American voters, it simply wouldn’t have mattered that much. So in the end, the blame-shifting is just another symptom of how bad of a candidate Harris was.

The former vice president is nothing if not stubbornly ambitious, though. She’s incredibly lazy in pursuing her ambitions, but she’s ambitious nonetheless. I expect her to cast a lot of people aside in an attempt to once again reinvent herself. I’m not sure I’m against it either. Watching her get toasted in another primary would be pretty entertaining to watch.
