With only a little less than 48 hours before President-elect Donald Trump and soon-to-be VP JD Vance place their hands on the Holy Bible and swear to defend the U.S. Constitution and protect the American people, it’s probably safe to stop holding our collective breath.

It’s happening, people!

Let’s back up a little bit, though, to something that sitting President Biden (and Vice President Kamala Harris, to a certain extent) did on Friday–declaring (erroneously) that the United States Constitution now magically has a 28th Amendment, and it’s “the law of the land,” because he says so.

What did Biden say?

“In keeping with my oath and duty to Constitution and country, I affirm what I believe and what three-fourths of the states have ratified: The 28th Amendment is the law of the land, guaranteeing all Americans equal rights and protections under the law regardless of their sex.”

You might have caught some of our stories, about the insanity that ensued, here at RedState:

Now, JD Vance is probably plenty busy preparing for all of the inauguration events over the next few days, which you can find in my most recent piece.

But he took a moment to not only needle Pres. Biden for his arrogance or ignorance (or both) with a hilarious request in X post form on Saturday. Above this Biden post,

Vance wrote:

Warning: contains coarse language

Hey Joe if we’re doing fake s**t on the way out can you declare Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame?

Then the vice president-elect added a very Buckeye state-appropriate, cordial closing:

See you in two days!

Our next VP, ladies and gentlemen!

Vance is someone who gets it. On very rare occasions, Republican lawmakers have picked up on the notion that one great way to deliver a political message is to weave it into a cultural one. Or include a genuine mention of culture in the mix.

Also, humor is always a good suit to lead with, and this quip by Vance is hilarious!

Of course, let’s get back to the pointed query the former Ohio senator brings up here. Readers may know that there are few cultural questions more controversial than whether or not Pete Rose belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame. It is certainly a major issue to this day, for many who grew up in Southwestern Ohio, like I did. Before we go any further, everyone can agree on one statement: R.I.P., Pete.

Lastly, to any naysayers, I say: Yes, Peter Edward Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame. Period!
