West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital three weeks after a car crash left him requiring surgery.

Antonio, 34, was involved in the accident on December 7 with the club revealing he underwent surgery on a lower limb fracture a day later.

The Jamaica international had been recovering under medical supervision before being discharged shortly after Christmas.

Essex Police were called shortly after 12.50pm to Coppice Row, Epping on December 7, following reports of what they believed to be a single-vehicle collision involving a Ferrari.

Antonio was transported to a London hospital by the East of England Ambulance Service, and West Ham confirmed on the evening of the incident the forward was “conscious and communicating”.

The club said at the time following surgery Antonio would “continue to be monitored in hospital over the coming days”.

Antonio’s team-mates wore shirts bearing his name before the first home game following the accident, against Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 9.

The shirts as well as those worn for the game itself were then auctioned off with the proceeds — close to £60,000 — now set to be donated to the NHS and Air Ambulances UK charities.

Antonio joined West Ham in 2015 and has scored 83 goals across 322 appearances for the club. He is West Ham’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 68 goals in the competition.

The Jamaica international has made 15 appearances this season, scoring once.

Antonio’s West Ham contract runs until 2025.
