There He Goes Again: Fetterman Delivers Stark Message to Those 'Rooting Against' Trump

There he goes again, indeed.

As I wrote last Wednesday, Democrat Senator John Fetterman (PA) is increasingly becoming a thorn in the side of the home team. The mercurial senator, who often bucks Democrat policies and narratives in a bottom-line way, has seemingly become more objective, as the rest of his party remains anything but.

On Sunday, Fetterman did it again.

During a prerecorded interview on ABC’s “This Week” with co-anchor Jonathan Karl, Fetterman said he hopes President-elect Donald Trump’s second term is successful, as opposed to Democrats who continue to howl at the moon about the imminent apocalypse that’s sure to destroy America.

Fetterman’s bottom-line message was not only true; it was also a simple lesson in logic (emphasis, mine).

I’m not rooting against him. If you’re rooting against the president, you are rooting against the nation. And I’m not ever going to be where I want a president to fail. So, country first. I know that’s become maybe like a cliche, but it happens to be true.

Trump Derangement Syndrome-afflicted Democrats, eagerly parroted by the so-called “mainstream” media and cable “news” hacks, have desperately and perversely attempted to turn the notion of “country first” into a xenophobic concept, hence deriding “MAGA” — Make America Great Again —as the worst four-letter word in the history of mankind. Yet what country on the planet doesn’t first consider its own best interests over the interests of other countries at its own expense?

An Open Mind and Informed Opinion’: Can Fetterman Become a Role Model for the Democrat Party?

In reference to Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly calling Trump a “fascist” throughout the presidential election campaign, Fetterman told Karl he’s not into such name-calling.

Fascism, that’s not a word that regular people use, you know? I think people are going to decide who is the candidate that’s going to protect and project, you know, my version of the American way of life, and that’s what happened.

Yep, that’s exactly what happened across this great nation on November 5, including in seven out of seven critical swing states — and in three out of three so-called “blue-wall states.”

Imagine a federal government in which the president and all members of both chambers of Congress have the same attitude, in this respect at least, and how such a government would truly work for the American people. (Yeah, I know: That will never happen.)

While Fetterman isn’t on the verge of switching parties — and he never will be, in my opinion — he views his job from a proper perspective.

‘The Responsibility of a U.S. Senator’

In reference to meeting with — and listening to — Trump’s cabinet nominees, Fetterman said, in mid-December:

I believe that it’s appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. Senator to have a conversation with President-elect Trump’s nominees. That’s why I met with Elise Stefanik and Pete Hegseth, just wrapped with Tulsi Gabbard, and look forward to my meetings with others soon. My votes will come from an open-mind and an informed opinion after having a conversation with them. That’s not controversial, it’s my job.

Can you imagine Democrat Sens. Elizabeth Warren (MA) or Mazie Hirono (HI), for example, coming anywhere near saying the above, much less believing it? Me, neither.

As I wrote in the linked article under “Read More” above, Fetterman admonished his Democrat colleagues who “freak out” over everything Donald Trump says or does before he’s even taken office.

It’s my belief that the “freak out” will only intensify after Trump moves back into the White House. But I’d bet a dollar that John Fetterman won’t be among the “freaking.”
