Ree Drummond is officially a grandmother!
The Pioneer Woman host, 55, took to social media on Wednesday, December 18, to share the happy news that her eldest daughter, Alex, has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Sofia.
“Our first baby had her first baby,” Drummond captioned her Instagram post, which featured a pic of her holding the little one while sitting next to husband Ladd Drummond in a hospital room.
“Thank you Lord, we will never be the same,” she added, unleashing a torrent of comments from family, friends and fans.
“Sofia loves her grandparents already,” Alex, 27, wrote on her mom’s post, adding a crying emoji.
Ree’s daughter Paige, 24, replied, “Grandma reeree ❤️.”
Meanwhile, Sunny Anderson — Ree’s colleague at the Food Network — left a sweet note that read, “Sending all of you all that you need in good vibes and rest and tissues for happy tears… all the good stuff. Congratulations ❤️.”
Ree shared more snapshots via her Instagram Stories, including close-ups of the sleeping baby swaddled in a blanket with a bow wrapped around her head.
“On a side note … How is it that hospital swaddling blankets have this same foot pattern from 30 years ago,” she wrote in one Story, adding a laughing emoji. “Okay bye.”
In another Story, she reposted Alex’s Instagram birth announcement that she posted jointly with husband Mauricio Scott on Wednesday.
“She’s here,” Alex captioned their photo carousel. “December 18th 2024. At 2:27am our perfect girl made her arrival a couple weeks early, just in time for Christmas! We are so in love and forever changed. Thank you Lord.”
The black-and-white snaps show Alex and Mauricio posing with their newborn moments after her arrival. In one emotional snapshot, Alex is in tears meeting Sofia for the first time.

Earlier this year, Alex announced that she and Scott were expanding their family. The pair tied the knot in 2021.
“We can’t wait to meet you, little one,” Alex wrote via Instagram. “Baby Scott joining the party this winter!”
At the time, Ree commented, “Beyond happy for you two!! (And for the whole family!) Love you, Alex and Mauricio!”
The celebrity chef and lifestyle mogul is also a mom to sons Bryce, 21, Jamar, 21, and Todd, 19, whom she shares with Ladd.
Last summer, Ree then took to her blog to discuss Alex’s big-time milestone.
“My child is going to have a child. It’s surreal, and I’m sure all of you grandparents can relate to the feeling of momentarily leaving your body [after hearing] similar news,” the chef gushed.
“We have no idea what being grandparents will look like or how much it will change our lives,” she said, explaining that Alex was due in January 2025.
“I will probably watch less Bravo, maybe? (Maybe not.) Can grandmothers have long hair? Can grandfathers look sexy in Wranglers? How long before the baby can ride a horse?” she joked.
