Kamala Harris Talks a Bunch, Says Nothing

When I was a little tad, my grandfather was fond of pointing out that there was a reason I had two ears and only one mouth. Now, Grandpa certainly had the gift of gab; he was an outgoing sort, and everyone in northern Linn County, Iowa, from before the Great War until he died in 1975, counted Grandpa as a friend. But he also knew that there were times when one had to sit down, shut up, and listen.

Kamala Harris would do well to learn this lesson. Why? Because every time she talks, she gives another lesson on how she’s just not any good at it. In the latest example, she gave a word-salad-laden talk at Prince George’s County Community College in Maryland, and hoo boy, was it a doozy.

Vice President Kamala Harris, in another word salad-filled speech Tuesday, urged young voters to stay engaged in politics as her 2024 opponent returns to the White House — her first extended public remarks since a concession speech to supporters last month following her landslide loss.

“The true test of our commitment is whether in the face of an obstacle: Do we throw up our hands — or do we roll up our sleeves?” Harris, 60, said during a speech at Prince George’s County Community College in Maryland, before heavily implying that the main impediment to her audience would be President-elect Donald Trump.

“And I ask you to remember the context in which you exist,” the vice president said, pausing slightly and then adding with a laugh, “Yeah, I did that. Uh-huh.”

OK, let’s deconstruct these remarks.

First: “The true test of our commitment is whether in the face of an obstacle: Do we throw up our hands — or do we roll up our sleeves?” Well, Madam Vice President, we all know what you did in the face of the last obstacle; you ran one of the worst presidential campaigns in the history of the republic against a man who had all the might and fury of the legacy media and the Democratic Party (but I repeat myself) stacked against him, a man who was facing unfounded lawfare on all sides — and you lost. You lost. There’s no point in rolling up your sleeves now because you already lost.

And there’s that cackle again.

Second: “And I ask you to remember the context in which you exist,” the vice president said, pausing slightly and then adding with a laugh, “Yeah, I did that. Uh-huh.” Wait, what? The context in which you exist? Like…reality? OK, scratch that; many of the young skulls full of mush that lined up to see Kamala Harris spew out another word salad probably have only a nodding acquaintance with reality. But that “Yeah, I did that. Uh-huh.” Really? When did she “remember the context in which (she) existed”? How, precisely, does one go about this?

This, I would remind you all, is the presumptive Democrat front-runner in 2028. Given that she will likely face JD Vance, who is everything Kamala Harris cannot dream of being — smart, articulate, dedicated, hard-working, with a compelling life story — well, if the Dems anoint Kamala again in 2028, she can roll up her sleeves until she cuts off the circulation in her arms and it won’t do her any good.

And she will probably believe she stands a chance with the voters. Does she think we just fell out of a coconut tree?
