West Virginia star Tucker DeVries will be sidelined indefinitely with an upper-body injury, the program announced on Tuesday.

“After consulting with our team doctors and other medical professionals, they have ruled Tucker out indefinitely as he deals with an upper-body injury,” coach Darian DeVries said in a statement. “We have a great bunch of guys in the locker room who I know will rally around him during his absence.”

The Mountaineers have been one of the biggest surprises this season under new coach DeVries with wins over Gonzaga and Arizona.

DeVries has emerged as one of the best players in the Big 12, averaging 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 47 percent from three.

DeVries spent his first three years at Drake where he was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and transferred to WVU shortly after his father was named coach. He was the No. 1 player on The Athletic’s transfer portal big board this summer.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward is currently 89th on The Athletic’s 2025 NBA Draft Big Board with a chance to rise if he can return in time for conference play.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 73-60 victory over Georgetown in the Big 12-Big East Battle. West Virginia has three games left until they begin conference play Dec. 31 on the road against Kansas.
