The Hollywood Foreign Press Association honors both achievements in movies and on television. The night allows all of our favorite TV and movie stars to brush elbows while honoring the best performances of the year.
In 2024, Oppenheimer was the big winner, walking away with five trophies, including the coveted Best Motion Picture — Drama. However, Taylor Swift was all anyone could talk about. From her whispering to Selena Gomez being endlessly meme’d to Jo Koy‘s joke falling flat with the Swifties to Emma Stone jokingly insulting her, most of Us forgot that she actually lost.
Swift’s Eras Tour concert film was nominated in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, but Barbie took home the trophy. Still, her green sequin dress was one of the red carpet highlights.

The nominees will be revealed on Monday, December 9, on CBSNews.com/GoldenGlobes and the CBS News Mobile App at 8:15 a.m. ET. Ten exclusive categories will be revealed beginning live at 8:30 a.m. ET on CBS Mornings.
Who Is Hosting the 2025 Golden Globe Nominations?
Actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut will present the nominees for the 27 award categories. Kaling is currently an executive producer on Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls while Chestnut stars in the new CBS procedural Watson, which debuts on January 26.

Nikki Glaser will host the 82nd annual Golden Globes. Since it’s her first time hosting the event, she turned to three-time host Ricky Gervais for advice.
“He said, ‘Be yourself. Do what you did at the roast and employ whatever method you used there. And don’t forget that you’re not one of them. You’re not a movie star, you’re not a TV star. You’re at the Globes, you’re the host and you’re a comedian and that’s your job,’” she told GoldenGlobes.com in early December. “That was really refreshing to hear.”

Who Will Be Honored at the 2025 Golden Globes?
While most nominees will have to wait until the night of to learn if they won, two honorees know they’ll be hitting the stage. Viola Davis is the 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award winner while Ted Danson is the Carol Burnett Award winner for 2025. They will first be honored at a gala dinner on Friday, January 3, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel before they each get a segment in the January 5 show.
