Harry Kane will “definitely miss a few games” after picking up a thigh injury in Bayern Munich’s draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The England captain was forced off during the first half of the 1-1 draw at Signal Iduna Park with the club on Sunday ruling him out of the DFB-Pokal round of 16 tie with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

Speaking on Monday, Vincent Kompany appeared to suggest his star striker — who has 20 goals from 19 games this season — could be sidelined longer.

“There’s a chance he’ll play again this year. He’ll definitely miss a few games,” the Belgian told a press conference.

“You can’t replace him one-to-one. He’s a top player. But we’ll solve things differently. There will be no lack of talent tomorrow (against Leverkusen).”

In Kane’s absence Bayern — top of the Bundesliga table — required a late Jamal Musiala equaliser to rescue a point against Dortmund.

Kompany knows Kane’s boots are tough ones to fill but is happy with what he has available to him.

“We have several options — Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, Leroy Sane. Maybe not Kingsley Coman in that position,” he said.

“Harry has scored 20 goals. You can’t replace that. But we have players who score goals, including Jamal. We’ll have a solution. We have enough players who can fulfil the role, even if you can’t replace his goals one-to-one.”

Following Tuesday’s match with Leverkusen, Bayern have four more games until the Bundesliga’s winter break.

They face Heidenheim, Mainz and RB Leipzig while also meeting Shakhtar Donestsk in the latest game of the Champions League league phase.
