The Big Ten fined Ohio State and Michigan $100,000 each for their involvement in a postgame fight that started with Wolverines players trying to plant a flag on the Ohio Stadium field and led to some law enforcement officials using pepper spray to break up the melee.

After a review by the conference, no players will receive individual discipline, although the conference could have doled out suspensions for postseason games. Ohio State is still in contention for a spot in the College Football Playoff and Michigan (7-5) will play in a bowl game.

The conference determined the schools violated the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy.

“Not only did the actions of both teams violate fundamental elements of sportsmanship such as respect and civility, the nature of the incident also jeopardized the safety of participants and bystanders,” the conference said in a statement. “The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.”

Michigan upset Ohio State 13-10 to extend its winning streak in the heated rivalry to four games.
