Manchester City’s awful run of form continued at the Etihad on Tuesday in a 3-3 draw against Dutch side Feyenoord.

It doesn’t sound that bad on the face of it, but in the context of their winless run — now at six matches — and where the match was, Pep Guardiola will be massively disappointed with what happened.

City momentarily belied their poor form as they raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to an Erling Haaland penalty a minute before the break, Ilkay Gundogan’s deflected strike, and Haaland tapping in his second within four second-half minutes. It looked like they were sailing to a morale-boosting win.

But goals from Anis Hadj-Moussa and Santiago Gimenez reduced the deficit, before David Hancko capitalised on goalkeeper Ederson’s rash mistake to nod home one minute from time and send the away fans into raptures.

A gut punch to City. Their confidence must be on the floor. Not the time you want to go into the den of potentially your greatest rivals for the title, then, four days after they’ve beaten Real Madrid…
