Decision Desk HQ called the race for New Hampshire Congressional District 2. With 75 percent of the vote counted, Democrat Maggie Goodlander has been declared the winner of the congressional seat, defeating Republican Lilly Tang Williams 54 percent to 46 percent.

Williams ran a wholly grassroots campaign focused on Second Amendment and free speech rights, and the economy. Williams’ personal story of escaping Communist China, and her sounding the alarm for Americans to course correct and fight for their individual liberties resonated with New Hampshire voters.

Democrat Maggie Goodlander is the wife of Biden-Harris National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Goodlander has worked as a Senate staffer, a White House aide, and as a deputy assistant attorney general under Attorney General Merrick Garland. Goodlander resigned to run for the seat, which was held for 12 years by Ann McLane Kuster (D-NH), who announced her retirement from Congress at the end of March. While the Democrats have held this seat, the balance of the House of Representatives seats are leaning toward remaining under Republican leadership.

It was a viral video of Williams’ performance at a November 1 candidate debate that launched her nationally. Williams cut a swath with her intelligent and fact-filled takedown of her opponent’s hackneyed policies and talking points. That debate helped Williams garner an endorsement from none other than former presidential candidate and current face of Trump’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

WATCH:

Had this moment and this endorsement happened a few weeks rather than a few days prior to Election Day, Williams may well have pulled off flipping the seat. But Williams was gracious in her concession and determined to continue to stay in the fight for our country.

Thank you to everyone who cast a vote for our campaign and our goal to keep the American Dream alive. I am grateful for the outpouring of support, especially in the last few weeks. I remain committed to fighting for a better future for our nation, and will continue to be a voice for holding our government accountable and demanding transparency and truth from our elected officials.

Thank you to Team Lily and my volunteers for all your support during this campaign. A very special thanks to my husband John and my three children- this journey would not have been possible without you.

America is a beacon of hope around the world because of the opportunity and freedoms it offers. We are all blessed to be Americans.

Williams has a very bright future ahead of her. Perhaps as part of RFKJ’s MAHA team in the second Trump administration. We shall see. Wherever she lands, Williams will continue to make a huge impact and leave an even larger footprint. The little state of New Hampshire has gifted us with a fresh and considerable national presence.
