Season 2 of Tracker is allowing Fiona Rene’s Reenie to grow outside of her connection to Justin Hartley‘s character, Colter.

“Obviously we’re building on Colter’s relationships and what he’s able to do. We are getting to see more of him. But then for Reenie, we’re seeing her identity without Colter,” Rene, 36, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of the newest episode, which airs Sunday, November 3.

Rene is thrilled to find out more about Reenie, adding, “Before it was like, ‘Who is she? What was her relationship to him? Who was she alongside him? How could she help him?’ And even though all those things are still true, now we’re seeing Reenie. Who is she, and what’s her life, and what’s she interested in and where is she in her life?”

While the first season of Tracker needed to introduce everyone through their individual relationships with Colter, the hit CBS series is now branching out.

Fans of Justin Hartley‘s hit CBS series Tracker don’t have to wait too long for a second season. The procedural, which is based on Jeffery Deaver‘s novel The Never Game, premiered in February after Super Bowl LVIII and immediately found its audience. Viewers were settling in every week to see their favorite fictional survivalist a.k.a […]

“We only saw [Reenie] next to him. Now you’re seeing her in her own office — which she helped design — and we’re seeing her love life and we’re seeing her hobbies,” Rene teased. “I think we can get really excited to see more of her as an individual as opposed to just her relationship with him.”

Tracker, which debuted in February, is centered around survivalist Colter who travels the country helping people and law enforcement tackle a variety of mysteries. He usually gets help from a team all around the country including his handler Velma (Abby McEnany), a hacker named Bobby (Eric Graise) and Reenie, who has been his attorney the past two seasons.

Reenie’s story evolved at the beginning of season 2 with her starting her own law firm.

“I’m so impressed by Reenie. I am not Reenie and I try so hard to live up to her. I’ve been saying WWRD [What Would Reenie Do],” Rene joked to Us. “Seeing her not only take care of herself, take care of the people that she loves and build a business and try to have a relationship — it’s what the world is expecting of a woman. It’s hard to do and she’s doing it.”

She continued: “I’m interested in seeing if there’s any cracks along the way and how she’s holding it all up. But I really am impressed by her. I think with the new firm, it’s given her a new sense of confidence that she doesn’t have to answer to someone in regards to what case is important and what’s not. We’ll see more of that in the future.”

The shift has also allowed Reenie to share the screen more with Velma. Rene is hopeful that as Tracker progresses, there will be more opportunities for everyone in Colter’s life to spend more time together.

As networks make decisions about their programming, Us Weekly will continue to track what has been renewed and which TV shows have been canceled. Slow Horses was the first show to score a renewal in 2024. In early January, Apple TV+ picked up the series for a fifth season, which will be based on Mick […]

“While Colter is lone-wolfing out in the wild, our love for him brings us together and our love for what he does brings us together,” she reflected to Us. “This idea of tracking has become Colter’s baby, and we’re all trying to take care of it. So I think it’s bringing Velma, Bobby and Reenie so much closer together that it would be silly not to be able to see that [more].”

After Tracker’s success on CBS, the series scored itself a longer season with 22 episodes instead of 13. This has led to more episodes where Colter reunites with his team — starting with Sunday’s episodes. According to the synopsis, Reenie gets Colter to take a case involving a woman missing from a high-end wellness retreat.

Rene previewed the episode for Us — and teased how the case allowed Reenie to get more involved, saying, “Reenie likes to surprise herself. In episode 4, she gets on her hands and knees in the dirt [to help] and is like, ‘Oh, OK. I can do this and I can do it in heels.’ That makes her feel confident and good and powerful. So I would love to be able to see her do [that more].”

Bringing Reenie to life the past two seasons has made Rene root for the future of the character.

“I would like to see her live a full life and I would like to see where her vulnerabilities are. I would like to see who she relies on whenever she has a problem and when she doesn’t have control,” Rene told Us. “And I would like to see her fall and get back up again.
