Gisele Bündchen and her boyfriend, Joaquim Valente, are expecting their first baby together, her third.
“Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they’re looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family,” a source told People on Monday, October 28.
Bündchen, 44, is already the mother of son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Brady. She is also the stepmother to Brady’s son Jack, 17, whom the former quarterback, 47, shares with ex Bridget Moynahan.
The supermodel and Valente have been dating since the summer of 2023. The duo worked together in 2021 on a photo shoot for Dust magazine, and Valente eventually became Bündchen’s jiu-jitsu instructor.
Earlier this year, an insider exclusively told Us Weekly that the pair began their relationship as friends before things changed in 2023.
“Joaquim was there for Gisele through her divorce, as a friend, and they turned romantic this past summer,” the source explained in February, adding that the couple have “similar lifestyles” and are both “dedicated to fitness and nutrition.”
“Gisele also loves being with someone who is from Brazil, they both have a shared history that she hasn’t had with anyone she’s dated,” the insider noted at the time.
Though Bündchen met Valente while she was still married to Brady, she has fiercely denied speculation that she cheated on her ex-husband.
“That is a lie,” she told The New York Times in March. “This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful. They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified.”
In the same interview, Bündchen declined to specify what caused her split from Brady, saying only, “No one really knows what happens between two people, only the two people in the relationship.”
She also noted that her relationship with Valente was new for her because they began as friends. “This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first,” she explained. “It’s very different. It is very honest, and it’s very transparent.”
Bündchen and Brady announced their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
“We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together,” Brady wrote via Instagram at the time. “We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”
In March, Bündchen admitted that it was “heartbreaking” to end her marriage to Brady. “[It was] definitely a transition that had to take place,” she said on the Impact x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain special in March. “I don’t think you wish for that.”
