MADISON, Wis. — Penn State quarterback Drew Allar exited Saturday’s game against Wisconsin late in the first half and walked to the locker room with a trainer. Allar appeared banged up after absorbing a sack during the final possession of the first half with Penn State trailing 10-7.

He grabbed at his left knee as he headed off the field. While Allar jogged out of the tunnel after halftime — and did so gingerly before attempting a few throws — backup quarterback Beau Pribula led the offense for the opening drive of the second half. While Pribula took the field Allar stood on the sideline with a towel draped over his head and a brace on his left knee. Within minutes he took the brace off but remained on the sideline standing next to quarterbacks coach Danny O’Brien.

Pribula, a more mobile quarterback than Allar, has used his legs this season. Penn State’s No. 3 quarterback is freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer. Allar was sharp in the first quarter, completing 9-of-10 passes for 113 yards. His lone incompletion was a drop by Julian Fleming. Allar went 14-of-18 for 148 yards with one touchdown pass to running back Nick Singleton during the first half.

Allar’s availability for next week’s game against No. 4 Ohio State in Beaver Stadium now becomes a focal point.
