It’s been a joy to watch liberal journalists weep after the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post declined to endorse Kamala Harris for president. The “journalists” have been resigning, taking to social media to lament that for once they didn’t get their way, and angrily spewing out articles and opinion pieces about how triggered they are that the newspaper didn’t back the most extreme left candidate in United States history.
Along the way, they further exposed what we’ve known all along: that they have nothing to do with journalism—and everything to do with progressive advocacy.
One of the most satisfying responses comes from the Washington Post’s Caroline Kitchener, who covers abortion for the paper. Imagine your life’s work is writing about the need to terminate perfectly viable pregnancies—sounds like a soulless existence.
It just got more soulless, because now Mommy is having a tantrum:
My mom just told me she cancelled her subscription to The Washington Post. She reads every one of my stories. It was a heartbreaking call.
I understand why she did it, but I asked her to reconsider. To anyone who has cancelled or is thinking about cancelling, here’s what I said:

I completely understand if you’ve lost faith in our owner, but please, don’t lose faith in us.
We have so much work to do.

Oh you poor darling snowflake! My heart pumps peanuts, as an old English friend of mine used to say. You mean your mom has taken part in the cancel culture that progressives created, the one where folks just try to shut down and censor anything they don’t like?

Mark Hemingway of The Federalist came down with the brutal but perfect response:
It’s so on-the-nose, I feel duty bound to tell you The Washington Post’s abortion reporter was just rejected by her own mother. pic.twitter.com/Qq6Qdt6IbT

These entitled journalists are so used to getting whatever they want and gaslighting us with progressive nonsense for years that they’re utterly unequipped to deal with reality. Some opine that billionaire owners Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong of the WaPo and the Times, respectively, saw the writing on the wall—namely that Donald Trump has a strong chance of winning this election—and didn’t want to be associated with a losing Kamala effort.
In Soon-Shiong’s case, however, some speculate that his radical leftist daughter, 31-year-old Nika, weighed in and shut down a Kamala endorsement because the VP has not been strong enough in favor of the Palestinians (and, by logic, against Israel). Lie with leftists, die with leftists.
A 1990’s Ben Stiller movie had a nice title: “Reality Bites.” For leftie journalists who are suddenly realizing that they are not in charge—they don’t in fact own these newspapers and the world isn’t their progressive playround—I would say a better title would be “Reality Sucks.”
Sorry not sorry.
