Regardless of your home team, it’s hard not to root for Mookie Betts and Brianna Betts’ love story.
Long before the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and shortstop became a professional baseball player competing for awards and World Series titles, Mookie was a man in love with his high school sweetheart.
“I knew she was ‘the one’ when I watched her love our daughter Kynlee,” Mookie told Ebony in 2021. “She showed me that unconditional love is real.”
Although the couple dated for 15 years before getting engaged, Brianna never regretted taking her time getting to the altar. Now, she can’t help but celebrate her family, which includes two children.
“We’ve been together a long time and gone through different chapters in our relationship as we’ve grown as individuals,” she told the publication before her wedding day. “Marriage is sacred. It’s one shot and that’s it. I’ve always known that I loved and adored him, but I knew I wanted to be his wife when it felt weird to go a day without seeing him or talking to him.”

Back in middle school, Mookie and Brianna formed a friendship via MySpace. With some time and courage, the baseball player decided to ask his classmate out on a date.
“I thought Brianna was cute but…I was into my video games and sports,” he told Ebony of their childhood romance. “When I finally asked her out, she said she didn’t hear me, but she heard me. So the next day I ended up asking her again. … She said yes and my MySpace status changed.”

Welcome to parenthood! Weeks after winning the World Series as a Boston Red Sox player, Mookie and Brianna shared some big news. The couple were officially parents after welcoming a baby girl named Kynlee Ivory Betts. “Never knew what unconditional love meant or how it felt until I met this little princess,” Mookie wrote via Instagram, announcing his daughter’s arrival. “Nov 6th 2018 is a day I’ll never forget❤️.”

She said yes! After 15 years of dating, Mookie got down on one knee and proposed to Brianna with a radiant cut, 7-carat diamond in Nashville, Tennessee. “Brianna has been by my side since we were teenagers,” Mookie told People after the proposal. “Together we’ve grown mentally, physically and spiritually. She is my best friend, mother of my child, my lover and my soon-to-be wife.”

In an effort to give back to those in need, Mookie and Brianna founded The 5050 Foundation — a nonprofit that aims to provide youth with the support they need for success both on and off the field. The organization focuses on many important aspects of a young person’s life, including physical activity, nutrition, mental health and financial literacy. “Our main goal is to be a supporting cast to children in need,” Mookie said on the foundation’s website. “While we are adding new programs to our year-round activations, we will be reactive to different needs within the community as they arise.”

Days after hosting a pre-wedding rehearsal dinner at Dodger Stadium, Mookie and Brianna officially became husband and wife during a romantic wedding ceremony at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
According to Dodger Blue, manager Dave Roberts and teammates Justin Turner, Joe Kelly and Chris Taylor were invited to the ceremony, which included a surprise appearance from Nelly during the reception.
“12/1/21 One of the best days of my life!!! @briannamichelle1 I love you and blessed to call you my wife,” Mookie wrote via Instagram at the time. “Thank you to our family and friends who traveled near and far to celebrate our Love!”

Mookie and Brianna expanded their family when they welcomed a baby boy. “April 18! GOD blessed us with our beautiful baby boy!” the pair captioned their joint Instagram post. “Kaj Lynn Betts! 💙👑.”
October 2024
It’s time for Dodgers baseball in the playoffs! As the postseason kicked off in the MLB, Mookie and his Dodgers teammates defeated the San Diego Padres in the Division Series, going on to beat the New York Mets in the League Championship Series.
On October 25, 2024, Mookie and the boys in blue faced off against the New York Yankees in Game One of the 2024 World Series with the hopes of securing another championship title. Along for the ride was Brianna, who can often be found in the stadium cheering on her husband in must-see fashion. “World Series Bound!🤍💙,” she wrote via Instagram after celebrating Mookie on the field.
