The Pacific Palisades home where Friends star Matthew Perry died last October has sold in an $8.55 million off-market deal, the New York Times reports. The actor, who played the beloved part of witty data scientist Chandler Bing in the iconic sitcom, paid $6 million for the 3,500-square-foot California dwelling in 2020. According to the outlet, Perry made extensive changes to the midcentury abode. The addition of a swimming pool with an attached hot tub, where Perry was found unresponsive last October, was one of the changes that he made to the property.

Nestled high up in the hills on a roughly half-acre plot, the Los Angeles residence boasts sprawling ocean views. The backyard is accessed via slide-away walls of glass. Among the space’s outdoor features are a fire pit and multiple covered patios. The home hosts four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, and features an open floor plan. A silver floor-to-ceiling electric fireplace warms the primary space, which combines the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The latter space is outfitted with an additional casual dining area, a built-in wine wall, and minimalistic white-and-gray cabinetry.

A picture window graces the primary suite bathroom, which is complete with a floating double vanity and a soaking tub. A spacious walk-in closet lined with built-in shelves and closet rails is also pictured in previous listing photos.

Perry was an avid real estate collector and also owned a Los Angeles penthouse (which was later purchased by Rihanna for $21 million), a $15 million Malibu beach house, and a $5 million Hollywood Hills dwelling that he bought just a few months before his death.

The Massachusetts native’s final Instagram post, shared five days before his passing, was a photo of him inside the home’s hot tub at night with city lights in the distance behind him.
