Nicola Peltz Beckham just spiced up her life, or rather her look, and it’s giving Posh Spice vibes.
The actress and model, 29, took to Instagram on Tuesday, October 22, to reveal a dramatic new hair transformation after having chopped her long black locks into a short blunt bob. Her new look instantly recalled her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham’s beauty signature circa her Spice Girls heyday.
Nicola, who married Victoria’s eldest son, Brooklyn, 29, in 2022, captioned the photo in a very Posh Spice manner, writing “passenger princess.” Outfitted in a tiny black baby tank top that bared her midriff, noughties-era black sunglasses and double gold cuffs not on her wrists but upon each elbow (so Y2K!), Nicola looked every inch the modern-day Spice girl with a Gen Z twist.
Instead of Victoria’s signature skinny black pants, she sported a pair of oversized slouchy gray sweats — Posh would never. With the waistband rolled over, her athleisure may have been lifted from her hubby’s closet. After all, who’s to say Victoria is the only family member she borrows from?
Beyond the pair of gold bangles, Nicola also wore a gold necklace adorned with a diamond Star of David and a mood ring–esque oval turquoise charm. As every former Spice Girls superfan can tell you, Posh was rarely seen without a silver cross pendant around her neck – making Nicola’s jewelry the Jewish version of the Spice-Girl-turned-designer’s longtime favorite accessory.
This is far from the first time she has channeled Victoria’s style — it’s a trend that’s become something of a sartorial (and now, beauty) habit of hers since the early days of her courtship with Brooklyn.
Just one of many iconic Victoria Beckham looks she (and Brooklyn) resurrected is head-to-toe leather, replete with moto jacket and matching pants. The edgy set was a clear homage to the his-and-her leather Versace outfits that Victoria and her husband, David Beckham, 49, infamously wore to a Gucci party in the ’90s, a throwback that’s frequently shared on Instagram.
For the record, Victoria has said the moment “haunts her,” not because it’s what fashion insiders would call “so bad it’s good” style, but because they were in Versace and it was a Gucci affair.
Again, Posh Spice would also never, considering her oft-quoted line from the cult-classic 1998 movie, Spice World: “Should I wear the little Gucci black dress or the little Gucci black dress?”
There’s no question, however, that Victoria views Nicola’s frequent tributes to her legendary style as a genuine form of flattery. And that’s certainly one way to get in good with your in-laws.
