New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, expert picks, how to watch: An Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams reunion

Like it or not, Aaron Rodgers and the lackluster New York Jets are back in primetime for Sunday Night Football and slight favorites on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last week, in the first game after firing head coach Robert Saleh, the Jets made enough mistakes to squander a chance to win versus division-rival Buffalo Bills. On Sunday night, Rodgers will send his old bones into the frigid Steel City air to face an elite defense.

Last week, the Steelers scored 32 points and showed crisp play-calling, which turned field goal attempts into touchdowns. In the first three weeks of the season, Pittsburgh converted only half of red zone opportunities into touchdowns; in its last three games, the Steelers have gone 7-for-10.

However, the improvement didn’t allow quarterback Justin Fields to keep his job. The Steelers ended or heightened the team’s QB controversy by indicating that Russell Wilson will be the starter against the Jets. Sunday’s game may feel more like 2015. Back then, both Wilson and Rodgers were Pro Bowlers. In 2024, they feel more like relics. If these offenses continue to sputter in Week 7, this could become a contest hinging on the instep of placekickers.
