The Dallas Stars have signed goaltender Jake Oettinger to an eight-year, $66 million contract extension, Stars general manager Jim Nill announced Thursday. The contract runs through the 2032-33 season and carries an average annual value of $8.25 million.

Oettinger has a 116-48-23 record with a .914 save percentage, a 2.49 goals-against average and 11 shutouts in 196 regular-season games with the Stars. The 25-year-old goaltender has also posted a 23-22 record in 47 playoff games and helped the Stars to the Western Conference final in back-to-back seasons (2023 and 2024). Dallas finished the 2023-24 regular season first in the Western Conference and fell to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the conference finals.

Oettinger has a 3-0-0 record so far this season with a .948 save percentage, a 1.63 goals-against average and one shutout.

“Jake has established himself as one of the elite goaltenders in the NHL,” Nill said in a team release. “His unique blend of poise, size, athleticism, and mental toughness has helped our team reach new heights since he’s taken over the net. He is an integral part of our core that will allow us to contend for the Stanley Cup this season, but also for many years to come. Off the ice, Jake is a leader in our team’s community efforts and is always willing to give his time and resources. I’m pleased that Jake and his wife Kennedi will be part of our family for many years to come.”
