Doug Meehan, a news anchor for WCVB in Boston, revealed over the weekend that he was hospitalized.

In a video posted to TikTok on Saturday, Meehan said he was “rushed to the hospital in an ambulance” on Thursday after hosting a charity event at Gillette Stadium.

Meehan, whose normally charismatic voice was soft and raspy in the video, said he had a blockage in his bowel.

“Life moves pretty fast,” Meehan said in the video, which appeared to be filmed from a hospital bed.

The 60-year-old is a co-anchor of WCVB’s weekday morning newscasts.

WCVB anchor Doug Meehan reveals hospitalization

Meehan hosted a charity event for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation at Gillette Stadium on Thursday before getting sick.

“By Thursday night, I was being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance because of a blockage in my bowel,” Meehan said.

In the video posted on Saturday, Meehan is seen laying in what appears to be a hospital bed with an IV tube connection in his hand.

“I just had a hose removed that went up my nose, through my throat and into my stomach,” Meehan said. “It was there for 30 hours.”

Who is Doug Meehan?

Doug Meehan is a news anchor for WCVB, a news station in Boston. WCVB is a media partner with The Patriot Ledger.

Meehan is a co-anchor for the station’s weekday morning newscasts, the EyeOpener.

He joined WCVB in 2015 after a stint in Phoenix, Arizona, according to his WCVB bio. Prior to that, Meehan worked for several other Boston news stations, including Boston 25 News and WHDH 7 News.

The 60-year-old grew up in West Yarmouth and received his bachelor of arts in communication from Westfield State University.

Meehan previously battled prostate cancer.
