As if having the FBI try to infiltrate the Catholic Church to prove they are nothing but racists and anti-semites wasn’t enough, we now have the elected governor of Michigan mocking the Catholic sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar reported earlier Thursday on the Gretchen Whitmer acting rather bizarre and disgusting in a video posted to social media apparently in support of the CHIPS Act.
As Jenn noted in her article, “It used to be that we had somewhat serious people in elected office, or at least they hid their foibles somewhat, knowing the importance of being respected and having respect for their office.” Here’s the video of Whitmer behaving in the most appalling of ways:
This is a blatant mockery of the Catholic Church and a godless, grotesque depiction of the Eucharist, no question about it. As the good folks of Catholic Vote asked:
How else can this be interpreted other than mockery of Catholics and the sacrament of Holy Communion, not to mention the distasteful pornographic innuendo? Gretchen Whitmer is only the latest example of the gross anti-Catholic bigotry festering inside the Democratic Party.
The video was posted to the Instagram account of podcaster Liz Plank, who is the one receiving the blasphemous “communion” from Whitmer; the video was made when Whitmer appeared on Plank’s podcast, Chip Chat. Along with the shameful video was this caption:
“If he won’t, Gretchen Whitmer will,” a caption under the Instagram video post reads. “Chips aren’t just delicious, the CHIPS Act is a game-changer for U.S. tech and manufacturing, boosting domestic production of semiconductors to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers! Donald Trump would put that at risk.”
As with all things leftist and Democrats, everything is about Donald Trump. They just can’t quit him and willingly debase themselves in the hopes that it will somehow tear him down. They are completely ignorant of the fact that this kind of nonsense only helps him (we’ll get to that in a moment). It’s thought that mental illness can’t be spread from person to person, but the American left is trying its darnedest to disprove that.
Here’s a question: Where are all the supposedly uber-Catholic Democrats like, say, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi? Why aren’t they condemning this disgraceful depiction of the most sacred part of their religion? Biden is play-acting that he’s in charge of hurricane relief efforts, while Pelosi is off promoting her new book. Their silence is shameful.
Do you know who else is silent? The media, naturally.
They won’t cover it, partially because they see no issue with mocking Christianity and partially because if they covered the story as it deserves, it could hurt the Democrat Party’s already dwindling election fortunes. Reporter Salena Zito made that a valid point with this tweet:
Catholics in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have words. The disrespect and vulgarity of this is beyond the pale.
She’s exactly right. Democrats already have problems in these states and are in danger of not just losing them to Trump, but also of losing all of those Senate seats. And they richly deserve to lose for many reasons, including the fact that they’re too cowardly to call out one of their own for her atrocious behavior.
Remember when Democrats could reliably count on the Catholic vote? They’re catering to the sick, bizarre demands of the extreme left and giving the middle finger to everyone else. They may just pay for that dearly at the ballot box.
When asked about the video, an aide to Whitmer responded that “the governor’s social media is well known for infusing her communications with pop culture.” She’s just far too cool for the rest of us; how silly for us to call out what we can see with our own eyes!
One final point, made by James Gagliano over on X:
“She would NEVER do this to another religion. Can get away with it because no Catholic leader will call for a “holy war” and point to blasphemy as a reason to turn to violence …”
This is 100% correct. Christianity is an easy target to leftists, who assume they can get away with this because Chrsitians won’t burn down cities. But, they will vote, and they’ll be emboldened to vote the party of Gretchen Whitmer into the minority. Election day can’t come soon enough.
Michigan, your governor is sick in the head and needs to be reeled in. Please attend to this matter forthwith.
