The widening of Interstate 75 in Fayette County will mean lane closures on I-75 and Interstate 64 beginning Wednesday night, state transportation officials said.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, contractors will close one lane of I-64/I-75 in each direction between mile marker 113 and mile marker 115, between the Paris Pike and Newtown Pike exits. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials are overseeing the widening project.

As work progresses throughout the night, contractors will change which lane is closed. Work will continue through Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. each evening. Lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning.

This round of work will conclude by 6 a.m. Saturday.

Cabinet officials cautioned motorists to expect delays in the busy corridor where the two interstates meet.

The widening of I-75 is reduce congestion in that busy section of I-64 and I-75. It is expected to be completed in 2026, according to cabinet officials.
