SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego International Airport is experiencing significant delays between both outbound and inbound flights.

According to the airport’s flight status portal, around 75 scheduled departures and nearly every arrival through the end of the day is experiencing some kind of delay. A handful of departures have also been canceled.

The average delay for departures is about an hour and 45 minutes, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.

Arrival delays for airborne aircrafts are about 39 minutes, while inbound flights to San Diego delayed at their point of origin have been set back by about three hours, FlightAware added.

Details about what caused the service disruption is not known at this time. However, FlightAware has “low clouds” listed as a contributor to the back up.

FOX 5/KUSI has reached out to the San Diego International Airport for more information.

Those headed to the airport Thursday afternoon or evening are encouraged to check with the airline about flight status before arriving. All flight statuses are also listed on the San Diego International Airport’s website.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
