A person who was walking on a road was hit by a car and killed over the weekend, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Keith Jerome Barnett, a 60-year-old Goose Creek resident, died Sunday in what Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell called an accident.
The collision happened Sunday at about 3:50 a.m., said Cpl. Nick Pye of the Highway Patrol.
Barnett was walking in the eastbound lanes of NAD Road, Pye said. Near the intersection with Snake Road Barnett was hit by a 2014 Nissan sedan that was driving east on NAD Road, and the pedestrian died, according to Pye.
Pye said the Nissan driver was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
There was no word if the driver was wearing a seat belt, and both the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office are continuing to investigate the crash.
