AUSTIN, TexasA woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing into two Austin ISD school buses late Thursday night, police said.

Austin police said around 11:33 p.m. on August 29, officers responded to a crash involving a car and two Austin ISD school buses in the 2900 block of N Lamar Blvd.

When they learned about the incident, many parents at McCallum High School, including Rolando Tey, expressed concern.

“It scared me,” said Rolando Tey. “Just a little insecure, maybe, about what’s happening or what happened.”

Five students and one of the bus drivers had minor injuries.

Amanda Levi, a parent, said she learned about the crash on Friday afternoon.

“My daughter was supposed to be at that game, and so hearing about something is a little bit alarming,” said Amanda Levi.

“I mean, I know things like this happen, but it just really concerned me for my daughter and all the kids that were involved as well,” said Tey.

The driver of the car, 23-year-old Fallon Ramos, was arrested for a DWI.

This crash remains under investigation.

Austin ISD is one of the few districts that has seat belts on all buses after a deadly bus crash in March.

A 7 On Your Side investigation found some Central Texas districts are still working to get seat belts on board. In 2017, state lawmakers passed a bill requiring all school buses to have three-point seat belts.

What happened on August 29?

Two buses carrying Austin ISD band students were involved in a crash Thursday night.

Five students and one of the bus drivers suffered minor injuries and another driver was taken to the hospital.

According to a letter from McCallum High School principal Andy Baxa, two of the school’s band buses were returning to campus from the Taco Shack Bowl at House Park Stadium when they were struck by a sedan.
