Tino Anjorin has completed a permanent transfer to Empoli from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Serie A club.
“I thank all the players I’ve played with, all the staff members that have developed and looked after me throughout all the years and the fans who have followed and supported my journey as a player,” Anjorin said in a post on social media.
Chelsea, meanwhile, said in a statement they “would like to thank Tino for all his efforts while at the club and wish him well as he begins the next chapter in his career.”
The Athletic reported that Anjorin was in talks with Empoli over joining them this summer.
Anjorin, a product of Chelsea’s academy since joining as an under-7, made five senior appearances for the club. The highly-regarded midfielder has spent the last three years on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow (which included a purchase option), Huddersfield Town, and Portsmouth, but his playing time has been limited due to injury setbacks.
Anjorin had one year left on his Chelsea contract and he was eager to leave in search of regular first-team football. This summer, he has been training separately from the main squad.
