With the cost of living being a significant concern for many Australians, Justine Wilson, founder of Vault Interiors shares her top tips on how to achieve Spring looks without breaking the bank.

Let there be light
One of the easiest ways to create a better spring vibe is by maximising light in the home. According to Ms Wilson the first thing you need to in a property is turn the overhead lights on as well as all table lamps and floor lamps.
In addition, agents should “open windows/doors and open blinds to let the natural light in.” This combination of artificial and natural lighting creates a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Wilson also suggests booking open house times that align with when the light is best in the property, which depends on the home’s orientation. A well-lit home feels more spacious and inviting, making it easier for potential buyers to envision living there.

Invest in reusable open house essentials
To keep open houses consistently appealing, Ms Wilson advises agents to invest in a few key items that can be used repeatedly.
“Agents could look at nice door mats and candles for their open homes which they can use from property to property.”
These small touches can enhance the home’s atmosphere and are easy to transport between listings. Additionally, having a kit of spare light globes is essential to ensure that all the lights are functioning for the showings.
For décor, Wilson suggests a practical and stylish solution: “A few fake greenery stems in vases can go a long way to dress up a coffee or dining table and could be used time and time again if the owners don’t want to buy fresh flowers for each open.” This tip provides a cost-effective yet elegant way to enhance the home’s appearance.

Basic Styling Rules for Agents
For agents not working with a professional stylist, Ms Wilson provides some fundamental guidelines to follow when preparing a home.
“Suggest that the owner declutters, tidies and cleans the house.”
This ensures the property feels fresh and organised, which is key to attracting potential buyers. Ms Wilson also advises booking a “professional cleaner and gardener to give the property a once over,” making sure that nothing is overlooked.
“Don’t neglect windows or house washing,” she adds, as these small details can greatly affect the overall presentation.”
Wilson underscores the importance of depersonalising the space.
“Tell the owners to pack away anything personal like religious icons, items with names on it, and personal photos,” she advises. This helps create a neutral environment that allows potential buyers to imagine themselves in the space, which is essential for making a strong connection with the property.”
