Some more bad (and very familiar) news for Manchester United: Luke Shaw will miss the start of the season after sustaining a calf injury.

United confirmed in a statement that Shaw picked up the injury “at the start of pre-season training,” adding that “he is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break”.

The 29-year-old is expected to miss United’s Premier League matches against Fulham today, Brighton, and Liverpool.

With back-up Tyrell Malacia also out due to a knee injury, right-backs Noussair Mazraoui or Diogo Dalot may be forced to deputise at left-back instead.
