Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has joined League One side Barnsley on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old joined Chelsea from MLS side Chicago Fire in the summer of 2022, signing a deal that will keep him at the club until 2028.
However, the USMNT international is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea and will join Barnsley to gain some first-team experience.
Despite some tentative interest from Spanish side Real Madrid in 2022, Chelsea was always the preferred destination for Slonina, who has represented the United States at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-20 level.
He rejoined Chicago Fire on loan in 2022 and spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Belgium side KAS Eupen, where he made 34 appearances and helped the side finish fourth in the Challenger Pro League.
Slonina made his debut for the USMNT in January 2023 during a 2-1 defeat to Serbia.
He will spend the 2024/25 season with Barnsley who began their League One campaign on Friday against Mansfield Town.
