Super Bowl-winning quarterback Nick Foles announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday.
“After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided to retire from the NFL,” Foles wrote in a post on X. “It’s been an incredible 11-year journey filled with unforgettable moments and amazing people. From being drafted by the Eagles to winning the Super Bowl, every step has been a blessing.
“I’m excited to spend more time with my family and embrace the next chapter of my life. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, team staff and fans for your unwavering support. I am forever grateful.”

Foles officially retired as a Philadelphia Eagle — the team he played with for five seasons across two stints (2012-14 and 2017-18) and led to a 2018 Super Bowl win.
He also played for the then-St. Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chicago Bears, and most recently, the Indianapolis Colts.
The 35-year-old Foles played in 71 career games with 58 starts and ended his career with 14,227 passing yards, 82 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.
He will mostly be remembered for taking over as the Eagles starting quarterback in late 2017 when Carson Wentz went down with a knee injury. Foles went on to lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory and caught a touchdown pass in the championship game.

The Eagles selected Foles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with Philadelphia before being traded to the Rams in 2015.
He then signed and played with the Chiefs for one year before returning to the Eagles.
In 2019, Foles signed a 4-year, $88 million deal with the Jaguars but was traded to Chicago the following season. He signed with the Colts in 2022 and hasn’t been with a team since his release in 2023.
