Howard T. Brown Memorial Park was home to Norwich’s National Night Out Tuesday night.

There, community members got a chance to meet members of the Norwich Police Department, who handed out hot dogs, sodas and bags of chips.

Local organizations such as the Norwich Public Schools Family Resource Center, Norwich Bully Busters and the Black Dragon Martial Arts Academy were on hand to promote their businesses.

Magician Dean Davids entertained both children and adults with his magic tricks. The East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Department performed a vehicle extrication demonstration.

The event was organized by the Norwich Police Department and local donors. Norwich Police Chief Pat Daley said his department has held the event for more than 20 years.

“It’s a good way to reach out to the community,” Daley said regarding National Night Out. “It allows us to meet with people in a different light.”
