Hybrid Meets All-Wheel Drive on New Tech-Packed 2025 Ford Maverick

With the lowest starting price of any midsize pickup in the U.S., the 2025 Maverick (XLT FX4 trim pictured) has a targeted EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city with the hybrid all-wheel drive model.


The new 2025 Ford Maverick and Maverick Hybrid offers technology upgrades, all-wheel drive options, hybrid fuel efficiency, and driver-requested features.

Te new MY Maverick has a targeted EPA-estimated 42 mpg in the city with the standard hybrid front-wheel drive model and a targeted EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city with the hybrid all-wheel drive model.

Dark appearance LED headlamps, the front bumper, and the grille are all redesigned and standard. Higher trims feature LED projector headlamps with LED signature accent lighting, and grilles now vary across trim levels.

Ford Maverick trims include XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor.

Towing Technology and All-Terrain Performance

The new MY Maverick offers an added all-wheel drive option for 2025 and an optional package doubling towing capacity.

The hybrid all-wheel drive model can tow small campers, personal watercraft, and utility trailers with the available 4K Tow Package.

Towing technologies available in 2025:

  • Pro Trailer Hitch Assist uses the rear camera and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler while simultaneously controlling the truck’s speed, steering, and braking to stop in the right place.
  • Once hitched, Pro Trailer Backup Assist aids in backing up a trailer by turning a knob to indicate which direction the trailer should go while reversing into position.

The new MY pickup (XLT trim interior pictured) comes equipped with a 13.2 in. touchscreen, replacing the previous 8 in. screen. It is paired with an 8 in. digital instrument cluster visible above the steering wheel.


Balancing Versatility, Tech, and Customizations

Maverick drivers can now access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto paired with a 13.2 in. touchscreen, replacing the previous 8 in. screen. It is paired with an 8 in. digital instrument cluster visible above the steering wheel.

The vehicle has SYNC 4 with enhanced voice recognition and connected navigation. A newly built-in 5G modem gives the Maverick improved wireless tech and allows it to receive software updates to keep vehicle systems up to date.

The pickup features a Flexbed Storage System, or the Ford Integrated Tether System, which allows for 3D printing custom parts like charging cord wraps, console dividers, and custom cupholders.

Power is available to plug in gear like air compressors and battery chargers for power tools with a 110V/400W outlet in the bed and one in the cab.

Upgrades to Driver Assistance

For 2025, every Maverick is equipped with standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a Lane-Keeping Aid, a Rear View Camera, and Auto LED High-Beam Headlamps.

The pickup comes with a 360-degree camera, which is new for 2025 and was first developed for the F-Series. It provides a split-view display of what’s directly in front of or behind the vehicle, along with cross-traffic views.

New this year, the Lariat and Tremor are equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Predictive Speed Assist.

What’s Offered in Payload Specs?

The Macerick’s maximum payload capacity checks in at 1,500 lbs. combined with a Flexbed. Pockets molded into the sidewalls allow cut pieces of 2×4 to section off the bed to help prevent cargo and gear from sliding around.

Dividers in the top pockets create two-tier loading, which could haul bags of mulch on the bottom and landscape timbers on top, for example. The bed, coupled with the multi-position tailgate, is large enough to fit up to 18 full sheets of half-inch 4×8 ft. plywood.

The multi-position tailgate, available through Ford Accessories, can also be positioned flat to haul long cargo such as 2x4s or in the middle to support oversized cargo.

These features could benefit commercial fleet vocations transporting materials and tools to construction sites or projects in the field.

Driver Requests Influence Maverick Changes

The technology and handling upgrades, according to Ford, were direct requests from owners and drivers. The number one request and most significant update was the all-wheel drive hybrid model, available on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims.

These evolving characteristics in the new MY are drawing customers from other truck brands and segments, like small cars and small SUVs. 60% of Maverick customers trade in vehicles from different brands, as reported by Ford.

The starting MSRP for 2025 is $26,295, plus $1,595 for destination and delivery for the standard hybrid front wheel drive model.

The new Maverick and Maverick Hybrid are available to order starting Aug. 1, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2024.
