What makes a top real estate so good at what they do?

Is it the suit they wear? The podcast they listen to? 

Maybe it’s the prospecting strategies they use or the mindset meditations they practice.

In a recent episode of the Tom Ferry Podcast Experience, the renowned real estate coach sat down with Gino Blefari, the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices of America.

Recognised as a prominent real estate industry figure, Gino shares his secret routines and systems for success with Tom. 

From journaling, mindset techniques and detailed planning, Gino shares his playbook for real estate greatness. 

Personal affirmations:

  • Routine: Gino recites affirmations and focuses on personal, business, and physical visions. He repeats phrases such as, “I’m an outstanding human being in every respect,” “I’m a confident, warm, friendly person,” and “I’m an excellent parent”.
  • Reason: Gino uses these affirmations to reinforce his self-belief, maintain a positive mindset, and align his actions with his goals and values.

Journaling:

  • Routine: Gino writes in a journal on days that end in ‘y’ (that’s every day!). He documents what he is grateful for, three things that made him happy in the past 24 hours, and he notes affirmations like “I have perfect health, wealth, and fitness”.
  • Reason: Journaling helps Gino reflect on his accomplishments, foster gratitude, and reinforce positive affirmations, keeping his mindset focused and positive.

Morning routine:

  • Routine: Gino’s morning routine includes getting up early, going to Starbucks with his dog and listening to motivational content such as If by Rudyard Kipling or Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
  • Reason: A structured morning routine sets a positive tone for the day, ensuring Gino starts with motivation and clarity, which helps him maintain focus and productivity.

Mission statement and life plan:

  • Routine: Reciting a personal mission statement (“I’m helping people achieve their goals faster than they would in my absence”); reading a life plan and an annual theme.
  • Reason: Reciting his mission statement and life plan keeps Gino aligned with his long-term goals and values, providing a clear sense of purpose and direction.

Consistent practice

  • Routine: Engaging in all of these routines daily to ensure the right mindset and focus.
  • Reason: Consistency in these practices helps Gino stay disciplined, focused, and continually improving, which is crucial for long-term success.

Work ethic and mindset

  • Routine: Gino emphasises the importance of hard work, discipline, and a positive mindset, viewing challenges as growth opportunities.
  • Reason: He says that a strong work ethic and the right mindset are key to overcoming challenges and achieving greatness, as they distinguish him from the competition.

Leverage and engagement

  • Routine: Identifying and focusing on high-impact activities that predict success; keeping score to drive engagement and track progress.
  • Reason: By focusing on high-impact activities and tracking progress, Gino ensures he is consistently working towards his goals efficiently and effectively.

Like-minded people

  • Routine: Attend summits and events to stay connected with peers and industry leaders; seek inspiration and ideas from others in the field.
  • Reason: Being around like-minded individuals provides Gino with continuous learning opportunities, support, and motivation, essential for personal and professional growth.
