It has been one week since the assassination attempt on the GOP nominee for president, Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump is back on the campaign trail, this time with his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). Both are speaking at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Vance took the stage as the event started, and one of the topics he spoke about was Vice President Kamala Harris’ criticism of him.
Harris said that Vance’s loyalty was to Trump and not to the United States of America. Harris, a career politician, is questioning Vance, a former Marine, on his loyalty to the country:
Donald Trump has picked his new running mate: J.D. Vance.
He will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country.
If elected, he will help implement the extreme Project 2025 plan for a second Trump term. We’re not going to let that happen. pic.twitter.com/z4UKczVdbv

Vance addressed Harris’ criticism by pointing out his service:
There’s some bad news, actually. The Vice President, Kamala Harris, she doesn’t like me. Kamala Harris said something to the effect that I have no loyalty to this country. Well, I don’t know, Kamala; I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and build a business. What the hell have you done other than collect a check?
The crowd broked out with “USA, USA” chants.
Vance continued:
What has she done other than collect a check from her political offices, and we have to give her credit, my friends, she did serve as border czar during the biggest disaster, open border that we’ve ever had in this country. Let’s get President Trump back there, close down that border, and bring some common sense and security to this country.

Most Americans would agree that serving in the U.S. Marine Corps is the ultimate loyalty to the country, compared to being a career politician such as Harris, who has mostly done a disservice.
Vance will likely spend a lot of time in the Rust Belt states over the next couple of months, revving up support for the Trump-Vance ticket.
RedState will continue with more coverage of the rally on Saturday evening, so stay tuned.
