The 22-foot sports craft was reportedly taking on water in the Ashtabula area, with four people and two dogs aboard.
Three Good Samaritan boats and the Ashtabula station were called in to help. The Coast Guard was able to help rescue three people and the two animals, meanwhile the captain stayed aboard.
With the help of those on scene, the boat eventually stopped taking on water and was escorted back to Ashtabula Harbor, the Coast Guard said.
