The Democrats are likely looking closely at President Joe Biden this week as he hosts the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., while they line up on either side of the question of having him step aside from the presidential race. If he messes up yet again, that may be all she wrote in terms of the decisions of the leaders.

But they would still have to get around Joe and his supporters who don’t want to quit him. They’d also have to explain how grabbing the nomination away from him, the guy who did receive the people’s primary votes, is not a “threat to democracy” when they’re trying to claim this election is all about “threats to democracy.”

But I can’t imagine they’re looking at his interactions so far this week and being encouraged by them.

On Wednesday, Biden met with new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “Give me your hand there, pal,” Biden said. Then he rambled on about soccer.

Biden usually reserves the “pal” term for when he’s ticked at someone, so that was interesting usage there, since he only just met him.

Biden describes giving NATO Sec. Gen. Jens Stoltenberg the Medal of Freedom: “I sorta got on my knees and begged him.”

Then he did that thing where he thinks it’s funny that he doesn’t answer the questions of the press and they’re tossed out on their ears. He does that goofy grin thing.

They had everyone assembling for the NATO dinner. I’m not sure what was going on here, but Jill looked ticked and like she wanted to be anywhere else.

Here was the NATO dinner menu, which is always a great look when many Americans are trying to figure out how to pay for their groceries, given inflation.

But when he finally had to make remarks, it was a scramble, even though he was reading from a script.

“The allies in the room not only share a common language. Don’t share a common language. We do! Not share a common border. But we are neighbors. We’re neighbors,” Biden said. Huh, what?

How is he possibly going to get through his “big boy” press conference on Thursday when he can’t even read a script in a clear and coherent way?

One has to think that’s going to be one heck of a mess.
