Waters Rise on Galveston Island as Beryl Makes Landfall on Texas Gulf Coast

Strong winds and storm surge hit parts of the Texas Gulf Coast on Monday, July 8, as Hurricane Beryl made landfall in the region.

This footage was filmed by Nancy Kitchel, who said she captured it from her home on Galveston Island on Monday morning.

Warnings for damaging winds, flash flooding, and storm surge were in effect for the Houston and Galveston areas throughout Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center. Credit: Nancy Kitchel via Storyful
