Endrick will make a first start for Brazil in their Copa America quarterfinal against Uruguay.

Dorival Junior confirmed the 17-year-old will come in for the suspended Vinicius Junior at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Vinicius Jr — a future team-mate of Endrick when he joins officially later this month — picked up a second yellow card of the tournament in the game against Colombia last time out.

That followed a caution during the 4-1 win over Paraguay in the previous game, a match in which he had earlier scored twice.

Asked about how he planned to replace Vinicius Jr, Dorival Jr told a news conference: “Endrick. It will be Raphinha, Rodrygo and Endrick.”

Endrick has nine caps for his country to date, all from the bench, including three appearances at the Copa.

He has played a total of 34 minutes so far against Costa Rica, Paraguay and Colombia.

Dorival Jr added: “We lost an important player, but we gain another searching for his chance. Who knows, this could be Endrick’s moment.

“He’s not specifically a fixed No 9, a reference point, who prefers to basically plays as a pivot. He’s a player who drops in and out and has this movement.”

Brazil finished second in Group D behind Colombia to set up a meeting with South American rivals Uruguay in the last eight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side won Group C, ahead of Panama, with the USMNT eliminated.
