NHL stars from at least nine different teams will represent Sweden and Finland at next year’s 4 Nations Face-Off international tournament, with each team naming six players to their teams Friday.
Forwards Filip Forsberg, William Nylander and Mika Zibanejad were named to Sweden’s roster, along with defensemen Gustav Forsling, Victor Hedman and Erik Karlsson. For Finland, forwards Sebastian Aho, Aleksander Barkov and Mikko Rantanen were named to the team with defensemen Miro Heiskanen, Esa Lindell and Juuse Saros.
Forsling and Barkov are coming off a Stanley Cup victory with the Florida Panthers.
Nylander posted the 10th-most points in the NHL last season among skaters with 98, while Forsberg scored the sixth-most goals (48).
Among defensemen, Josi had the most goals in the league with 23 and the third-most points (85) behind Quinn Hughes (92) and Cale Makar (90).
The round-robin tournament takes place Feb. 12-20, with U.S. and Canada selections also expected Friday. It will be hosted by Montreal and Boston.
