TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have placed shortstop Bo Bichette on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain and called up No. 2 prospect Orelvis Martinez on Tuesday.
Bichette has missed Toronto’s last three games with a sore calf. He last played on June 14. The Blue Jays shortstop has had an uncharacteristically slow start to his season, hitting .237/.286/.342 with four home runs in 66 games.

Martinez is the Blue Jays’ second-ranked prospect, according to The Athletic’s Keith Law. The 22-year-old infielder was hitting .260/.343/.523 with 16 home runs in 63 games with Triple-A Buffalo. Martinez ranked 43rd in all of baseball on Law’s latest MLB top-50 prospect list.
