Kobbie Mainoo admitted it is good to have “peace of mind” after Manchester United decided to stick with Erik ten Hag.

The United manager was the focus of a post-season internal review, conducted by INEOS, at Old Trafford and it has led to the prospect of him signing a new contract.

Even though United had spoken to other managerial candidates, including Thomas Tuchel, Mainoo is delighted Ten Hag is staying put.

“I am obviously happy to keep building with him, he has won two trophies and there are more to come,” Mainoo said. “It is nice to have the peace of mind that we know what manager we are going back to for pre-season.”

Mainoo is part of the England squad vying to win Euro 2024 and came on for Jude Bellingham in the 86th minute during their 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday night.

The 19-year-old midfielder believes without Ten Hag, there is a chance he would not have made Gareth Southgate’s team.

“I am so grateful for him that he put his trust in me and believed in me to play in the team,” the United player continued. “I can’t thank him enough.”

England continue their group-stage campaign against Denmark on Thursday.
