Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Lewis Dunk are injury doubts ahead of Friday’s deadline for Gareth Southgate to name his squad for this summer’s European Championship.

The defensive trio missed England’s final training session ahead of their last Euro 2024 warm-up game against Iceland on Friday evening.

Southgate has until 11pm on Friday, June 7, to name his final 26-man squad for the tournament.

England confirmed on Thursday that Manchester United duo Maguire and Shaw will take part in individual training programmes as they continue their rehabilitation from injury. Brighton’s Lewis Dunk will also train alone.

Maguire, 31, has been an integral member of the England setup and has been selected in every major tournament squad during Southgate’s reign.

He has not made an appearance for United since April and faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of England’s opening game of the Euros against Serbia on June 16.

The centre-back has begun running as he continues his recovery from the calf problem that kept him out of United’s 2023-24 run-in and their FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

Shaw, 28, has played just 12 Premier League games in an injury-plagued season for United.

If the left-back does travel to Germany, he will do so having not played any football at all since mid-February.

Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones were cut from the squad before Thursday’s training session.

Maddison was part of Southgate’s 2022 World Cup squad Qatar however he did not make an appearance at the tournament.

Uncapped Jones was named in Southgate’s provisional 33-man selection last month but did not feature in England’s first pre-tournament friendly against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Monday.

Jones’ Liverpool team-mate Jarell Quansah is also expected to be omitted from the final 26-man touring party.
