Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a left calf strain during the third quarter of the Bucks’ 104-91 win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday and will miss Milwaukee’s final three regular-season games, the team announced Wednesday. Antetokounmpo underwent an MRI on Tuesday night that confirmed the diagnosis.

On Wednesday morning, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Antetokounmpo avoided damage to his left Achilles tendon, a best-case scenario for the Bucks. But that doesn’t change the precarious position Milwaukee finds itself in.
Not only will the Bucks need Antetokounmpo to return and play well after an injury, but they have run out of regular-season reps for their big three of Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton to get acclimated playing with each other under coach Doc Rivers.
Milwaukee is 48-31 and currently second in the Eastern Conference, just a game ahead of the New York Knicks. The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are tied at 46-33, while the Indiana Pacers are only 2 1/2 games behind the Bucks with a 46-34 record.
Antetokounmpo finishes his regular season averaging 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.2 steals on a career-best 61.1 percent shooting from the field over 73 games.
