There have been numerous powerful speeches at the Republican National Convention by many top-level GOP politicians, but decorated 98-year-old WWII and D-day veteran vet Sgt. William Pekrul added to the list with an amazing patriotic speech that fired up the crowd and led them to chant, “USA! USA!”
He recounted the sacrifices he and so many of our countrymen and women made to fight the Nazis in World War II and keep our country safe. But he also lamented what has happened to our great nation under the disastrous leadership of Joe Biden.
America is still worth fighting for, he told the crowd:
I will never forget and witness the horror of the Nazis’ war camps in the Battle of the Bulge. My friends and I fought to stop the Nazis last major portion in the Western Front. If you months later, Hitler was dead, Hitler was dead—the Nazis were defeated. And we gave thanks to Almighty God for delivering us from evil.
But not many of us came home. I still miss a lot of my friends. On that beach. [Choked back emotion.] And there aren’t were many of us left today. But for us, those who of us who are here… America is still worth fighting for! [Raised fist as crowd cheered. His smile as he was acknowledged by the assembled is priceless].

He lit into the current Biden-Harris administration and laid out their many failures:
It hurts my heart to see what our current president and vice president have done to the country I love so well. They humiliated us in Afghanistan, we push around in China, [let] terrorists run wild in the Middle East and they let our own southern border get overrun.
America, people say… America is an idea. But I believe. America is much more than that. America, America is our home. [Crowd chants “USA” as he pumps his fist in the air.]
You know, and I was fighting in Europe, and I came back home. I kissed the ground. Thank God that I’m back home in my country.

Perhaps the most incredible moment of the speech came when Pekrul said he was still willing to fight for the soul of the nation:
And where I come from, when somebody comes for me for my home, you dig in your boots in the ground and never look back. That’s the attitude that saved the free world.
[With] President Trump back and commander in chief, I would go back to reenlist today.
And I will storm whatever beach my country wants me to. God bless you. God bless your home, and the United States of America.
