After beating the New Orleans Pelicans 125 to 114 at TD Garden in Boston, the Boston Celtics became this season’s first team to achieve 30 wins. This was largely due in part to 72 points scored by Jayson Tatum (star) and Jaylen brown (star).
Brown had 41 points and 12 rebounds, while Tatum had 31 and 10 rebounds in the Celtics’ fourth consecutive win.
Brown targeted the Pelicans from mid-range. He credits extra muscle he gained in the offseason for his ability to deal with larger opponents. Brown also makes an effort not to settle for attempts from deep.
According to the Celtics website, Brown said that he believes he can reach the rim at an acceptable pace this year. I want to continue that.
“I don’t want to let defense off the hook but I feel good about many of the shots that I took from three. Some went down, others haven’t. However, I think I will continue to try to reach the basket more this year just to make sure that I don’t miss any of them.”
Al Horford, Celtics forward, reiterated this point: “When Brown drives it feels like people feel it.”
“When he hits you while driving, that’s when it’s real. It’s great to see him play at such a high level and to know that he will attack the paint.
This was Brown’s sixth game with 40 points in his career. He moved past Sam Jones, Isaiah Thomas and Isaiah Thomas to be the sixth-most Celtics player.
The two wing players, Tatum and Tatum, have been the driving force behind Boston’s recent success.
Last season, the team reached the NBA Finals, losing to the Golden State Warriors. This year, the team is back in the top of the league.
Brown and Tatum were the first Celtics players to score at least 30 points in a game and also get 10 rebounds. This was the same stat line that Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker achieved in 2001.
Brown was drafted with No. Tatum was the No. 3 pick in 2016, and Brown was the No. They were the 3rd pick in 2017, and they had a good understanding of how to dissect defenses.
Horford said that the star duo “continue to grow in front our eyes,” after the win. They feed off one another, and that’s what drives our team.”
